Unfortunately, such fights over what exactly donors should be getting for their money (“donor intent”) are all too common, and they divert money from charities into the hands of the lawyers.Burton, chief executive of Burton Capital Management in Greenwich, Conn. and of printing company Cenveo in Stamford, Conn., has been the largest donor to UConn football. According to his tally, he gave over $7 million, including the lead gift towards the Burton Family Football Complex, which opened in 2006.
