Rea, who was 89, had been suffering from congestive heart failure.
A native of Los Angeles, Rea got her start in television in the 1960s working as part of Red Skelton's stock company, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She appeared in numerous series and several films, but is perhaps best known for her later work on "Dukes," "Grace Under Fire" and "Step By Step."
