Within a few days, she signed documents on Dec. 5, 2007, to purchase a single-family home on Kennedy Avenue, also on the North Side, for $72,000.

Her loan papers, which she provided to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reveal that she qualified for a 30-year mortgage of $64,800 at an interest rate of 7.625 percent. But according to an affidavit by the U.S. Secret Service underlying a fraud case against the home sellers, Dov Ratchkauskas and George Kubini, the mortgage was based on falsely reported information.
